Clinical Educator in Nursing

About the role

The Clinical Educator in Nursing supports undergraduate nursing students throughout their clinical learning journey. Working closely with the Deputy Head of the School of Nursing & Midwifery, the role ensures students acquire the knowledge and skills needed for placements in hospitals, primary care centres and other health‑care settings.

Key responsibilities

• Assist academics in planning and delivering clinical assessments, simulation sessions and practical skills labs.
• Coordinate development, approval and scheduling of clinical modules across all undergraduate levels.
• Review placement documentation, policies and surveys, and develop action plans to improve student experiences.
• Provide module‑specific feedback to students at the start of each semester.
• Assess and follow‑up students with performance difficulties or professional misconduct, liaising with Level Directors and Placement Coordinators.
• Enhance clinical learning environments based on student feedback.
• Maintain a clinical placement database and plan individual student experiences aligned with programme learning outcomes.
• Conduct orientation sessions for students and clinical tutors/mentors before placements.
• Resolve operational matters such as placement scheduling and assessment adjustments.
• Carry out clinical rounds, submit reports, and support debriefing sessions.
• Counsel students on clinical, academic and extracurricular matters.

Required profile

• Qualified nurse with experience in clinical education or teaching.
• Familiarity with undergraduate nursing curricula and clinical placement processes.
• Ability to assess student performance, provide constructive feedback and manage professional conduct issues.
• Strong organizational skills for coordinating placements, schedules and documentation.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with students, faculty and clinical partners.
