Complex Chief Steward

About the role

The Complex Chief Steward oversees all non‑cooking kitchen operations for a busy hotel environment. This full‑time position ensures that dishroom, night cleaning, back‑dock, banquet plating and food‑running activities run smoothly while supporting guest satisfaction and budget goals.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily kitchen utility functions, including dishroom, night cleaning, back‑dock cleaning and maintenance.
• Supervise non‑cooking staff such as dishwashers and kitchen helpers.
• Coordinate banquet plating, food running and overall service flow.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and coaching employees.
• Enforce company safety, security and uniform standards.
• Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
• Welcome guests, anticipate service needs and ensure high‑quality standards.
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lb, standing for long periods and moving on varied surfaces.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of related food‑and‑beverage experience.
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
• No specific license or certification required.
