Consultant/Specialist – ICU & Anesthesia

About the role

Amana Healthcare’s new long‑term care and rehabilitation hospital in Al Jasra, Bahrain, is seeking a Consultant/Specialist in ICU & Anesthesia. The physician will deliver comprehensive critical‑care and anesthetic services to medically complex patients within a multidisciplinary, patient‑centred environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of critically ill patients.
• Provide ICU coverage, including monitoring, advanced interventions and ventilator management.
• Manage airway support, tracheostomy care and ventilator‑weaning programmes.
• Conduct pre‑operative, intra‑operative and post‑operative anesthesia assessments and deliver peri‑procedural care when required.
• Perform invasive procedures such as central venous catheterisation, arterial line insertion, intubation and emergency airway management.
• Lead rapid‑response and emergency resuscitation activities throughout the facility.
• Interpret laboratory, radiological and physiological data to guide treatment plans aligned with rehabilitation goals.
• Participate in daily multidisciplinary team rounds and support discharge planning and transition of care.
• Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans and prognosis to patients and families.

Required profile

• Proven experience in ICU and anesthesia care for medically complex patients.
• Ability to manage mechanical ventilation, airway support and tracheostomy care.
• Competence in performing invasive bedside procedures.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary teams in a hospital setting.
• Strong communication skills for patient and family engagement.
