Data Protection Officer

About the role

Advantari, a Bahrain-based digital transformation and cyber-security firm, is seeking a Data Protection Officer to help its clients implement the Bahrain Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and to deliver External Data Protection Guardian services. The role involves guiding organisations through privacy compliance, risk assessments and ongoing monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct PDPL gap assessments and lead end-to-end compliance implementations for clients.
• Perform data mapping, processing reviews, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and other compliance assessments.
• Develop, maintain and update privacy policies, procedures, notices, consent mechanisms and processing registers.
• Support data subject rights requests, manage personal data breach incidents and handle PDPL notifications and authorisations.
• Review cross-border data transfers, data processor agreements and third-party contracts.
• Provide external DPG services, including compliance monitoring, client advisory and liaison with the Bahrain PDPA.
• Assess technical and organisational measures for personal data protection and deliver PDPL awareness and training to client teams.

Required profile

• Current residence in Bahrain.
• Fluent in Arabic and English, both written and spoken.
• CIPM certification and successful completion of the BIBF Professional Program for DPOs.
• Proven experience in data protection, privacy, cybersecurity, information security, risk or compliance.
• Strong working knowledge of the Bahrain Personal Data Protection Law and its implementing orders.
