Health & Safety Officer – Production & Support (Bahrain)

About the role

The Health & Safety Officer will lead the development and implementation of occupational health and safety systems for a production and support environment in Bahrain. The role ensures compliance with local legislation, minimizes workplace risks, and promotes a culture of safety across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, manuals and quality documentation.
• Identify hazards, assess risks and implement preventive measures for chemical, physical and ergonomic threats.
• Manage the Health & Safety team, conduct audits, and train staff on safety practices.
• Liaise with government authorities, ministries and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and smooth operations.
• Investigate incidents, determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain emergency response plans, hazardous waste management and OHS compliance audits.
• Ensure proper installation of equipment and machinery, and monitor hazardous substances such as toxic fumes and explosive gas‑air mixtures.
• Communicate regularly with senior management on the status of safety programs.

Required profile

• Bahraini nationals with at least 3 years of HSE experience, or expatriates with 6 years or more.
• Strong knowledge of Bahrain HSE laws, regulations and reporting requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent health & safety management qualification; additional certifications are a plus.
• Positive attitude, integrity, strong sense of responsibility and good communication skills.
