Lead Accounts Officer

About the role

The Lead Accounts Officer will act as the primary liaison between the accounts payable function, internal customers, and vendors. Reporting to the Head of Accounts Payable, this role ensures timely processing of payments, accurate reporting, and continuous improvement of AP processes.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact for all accounts payable inquiries.
• Review and approve payments efficiently, ensuring compliance with policies.
• Monitor AP dashboards, vendor balances, aged payables, and outstanding advances, providing data for analysis.
• Maintain accurate records, reconcile vendor statements and employee expenses, and resolve discrepancies.
• Escalate critical matters to the Head of Accounts Payable and Finance Director promptly.
• Collaborate with IT to automate processes and improve reporting tools.
• Design and enhance existing financial reports based on business needs.
• Assist in developing and implementing AP policies and procedures.
• Train and mentor AP staff on best practices.
• Liaise with external auditors and support VAT and internal tax audits.
• Perform ad‑hoc projects as assigned by senior leadership.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar accounts payable role.
• Semi‑qualified Chartered Accountant, Bachelor/Master of Commerce, or equivalent qualification.
• Proven ability to build strong vendor relationships.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Experience leading a team of accountants and streamlining accounting processes.
• Fluency in written and spoken Arabic.
