Risk Officer – Cryptocurrency Exchange

About the role

BitOasis is seeking a Risk Officer to lead the development and execution of a comprehensive risk management framework for its cryptocurrency exchange in Bahrain. You will ensure the platform remains secure, compliant, and resilient in a fast‑evolving market.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain a risk management framework covering market, credit, operational, cybersecurity, AML/CFT and regulatory risks.
• Identify and assess risks across trading, custody, compliance, technology and operations using quantitative and qualitative methods.
• Develop and enforce mitigation strategies, policies and controls for KYC/AML, transaction monitoring, cybersecurity and data privacy.
• Track Key Risk Indicators, report risk profiles to senior management and the board, and align with the organization’s risk appetite.
• Stay updated on Bahrain Central Bank (CBB) and international crypto regulations, ensuring full compliance.
• Collaborate with IT security to address cyber threats and with compliance to strengthen AML/CFT programs.
• Design incident response plans, manage risk events and conduct post‑incident reviews.
• Promote a strong risk culture through training and awareness programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration or related field; Master’s or professional certifications (FRM, APRM, PRM) preferred.
• 5–7 years of risk management experience, preferably in financial services; experience in cryptocurrency or fintech is highly desirable.
• Deep understanding of cryptocurrency markets, blockchain technology, and associated regulatory/AML frameworks.
• Proven ability to develop and implement corporate risk methodologies and controls.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills with high ethical standards.
