Senior Java Developer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer to join an Islamic Bank in Bahrain. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise‑grade Java applications, APIs and micro‑services, ensuring high performance, security and compliance within the banking sector.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java applications using Java 8/11/14, following OOP, SOLID and DRY principles.
• Build scalable backend services with Spring Framework, Spring Boot and micro‑services architecture.
• Create, expose and consume RESTful APIs and support SOAP/XML integrations.
• Develop micro‑services using JPA/Hibernate and manage relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Implement multithreading and concurrency solutions to enhance performance.
• Apply security standards and identity protocols such as OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, SSO, TLS and PKI.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root‑cause analysis and provide application support.
• Conduct testing, debugging and code reviews to ensure software quality.
• Utilize Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and Agile methodologies for efficient delivery.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements and deliver integration solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• 7–10 years of hands‑on Java development experience.
• Previous experience in the banking or financial services industry is highly preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Java 8/11/14 and object‑oriented programming.
• Hands‑on experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, micro‑services, JPA and Hibernate.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and integrating with SOAP services.
• Knowledge of message queuing technologies such as IBM MQ and Kafka.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, SQL, MySQL and NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
• Familiarity with web technologies including HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, JSP, JSF, PrimeFaces and Thymeleaf.
• Strong understanding of application security and identity management protocols.
