Senior MEP Quantity Surveyor

About the role

The Senior MEP Quantity Surveyor will lead the commercial and contractual management of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing works across multiple construction projects in Bahrain. Working closely with project teams, clients, consultants and subcontractors, the role ensures accurate cost control, timely valuations and profitable project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, evaluate and submit monthly interim valuations with full supporting documentation.
• Perform detailed quantity take‑offs for MEP works from drawings and specifications.
• Prepare, negotiate and finalise variation claims, ensuring proper documentation and approval.
• Attend commercial meetings with clients, consultants and contractors to resolve valuations and variations.
• Assess, review and certify subcontractor valuations, variation claims and payment applications.
• Maintain commercial logs, valuation registers, variation logs, bonds, guarantees and contractual correspondence.
• Monitor project costs, budgets and forecasts to meet commercial objectives.
• Coordinate with site and procurement teams for material purchasing and subcontractor engagement.
• Prepare regular cost reports covering manpower, equipment and material forecasts.
• Support contract administration, claims management, extensions of time and dispute resolution.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities, value‑engineering options and process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical/Electrical/Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of quantity surveying experience, with extensive MEP project exposure.
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems, construction methodologies and cost management.
• Proven ability to prepare valuations, variation claims and final accounts.
• Good understanding of FIDIC and other standard construction contracts.
