Setting Out Manager – Manufacturing & Joinery

About the role

The Setting Out Manager will coordinate internal and external clients and lead the setting‑out team to ensure smooth project manufacturing flow, client satisfaction, and balanced quality‑cost performance. The role supports divisional performance, efficiency improvements, and continuous process optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee assigned projects, reviewing details and guiding setting‑out processes such as material submissions, procurement, shop‑drawing development, prototyping and manufacturing delivery.
• Manage project programmes, schedules and client expectations, ensuring timely shop‑drawing preparation and submittal.
• Coordinate with production departments, verify material details, and clear variations internally and with clients.
• Identify project material requirements, oversee procurement and planning to guarantee material arrival before production.
• Handle RFIs, source hardware accessories, and optimise procurement where possible.
• Control the approval process for project drawings and issue cutting lists and loading lines to the factory.
• Collaborate with site teams for surveys or alternative setting‑out plans on fast‑track projects.
• Interpret contractual requirements, prepare project status reports and forward‑plan cutting‑list schedules.

Required profile

• Minimum ten years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in joinery setting‑out.
• Proven track record in managing site surveys, manufacturing shop drawings, cutting‑list preparation, material take‑off, ordering and loading‑line creation.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing procedures and common joinery materials such as timber, boards, veneers and laminates.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal functional areas.
