Sports Club General Manager

About the role

The Sports Club General Manager leads all aspects of club operations, ensuring high‑quality member services, effective facility management, and sustainable business growth. This senior position reports to the board or governing committee and works closely with members, sponsors, and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of sports facilities, fitness areas, clubhouse services, and administrative functions.
• Develop and implement business strategies, operating plans, and initiatives to meet financial and operational targets.
• Manage budgets, revenue streams, expenses, financial reporting, and cost‑control measures.
• Lead membership development, recruitment, retention, and member engagement programmes.
• Plan and coordinate sporting events, tournaments, training programs, and social activities.
• Supervise department heads and staff, set performance targets, and promote professional development.
• Maintain facilities, equipment, and grounds to ensure safety, cleanliness, and high service standards.
• Build and maintain relationships with members, sponsors, sports associations, suppliers, and other partners.
• Monitor service quality, member feedback, operational performance, and identify business improvement opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, licensing, and governance regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of management experience in sports clubs, leisure facilities, hospitality, or recreational operations.
• Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams, budgets, facilities, and customer‑focused services.
• Strong financial management, business planning, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with club management systems.
