Personnel Assistant I

About the role

The Personnel Assistant I will support Navy Personnel Command in Manama, Bahrain by verifying identity and eligibility of DoD beneficiaries, issuing identification cards, and performing DEERS updates.

Key responsibilities

• Interact with customers face‑to‑face, providing courteous service and answering inquiries about card eligibility and application requirements.
• Verify and issue Common Access Cards (CAC) and Uniformed Service Identification (USID) using DEERS/RAPIDS terminals, ensuring data accuracy.
• Perform customer services such as PIN resets, PKI certificate updates, and ICA services for timely card distribution.
• Maintain RAPIDS equipment, conduct printer maintenance, and keep VPN connections active.
• Record daily labor hours, assist with monthly metrics reporting, and handle other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of experience in a customer service environment.
• Human Resources background in Military Personnel or DEERS/RAPIDS preferred.
• Ability to pass a Navy background check and obtain a secret clearance.
• Eligibility to obtain a work visa for Bahrain.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Working knowledge of DEERS and RAPIDS systems for ID card issuance.
• Familiarity with standard office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machines.
