Store Manager, Sports

About the role

The Store Manager, Sports will lead the daily operations of a sports retail outlet, ensuring sales targets are met while delivering exceptional customer service. You will be responsible for visual merchandising, inventory control, loss prevention, and coaching a team of sales associates.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate store targets, motivate staff and drive sales to achieve financial objectives.
• Maintain loss‑prevention standards, oversee cash handling, and manage fraud and theft controls.
• Supervise all POS activities, including sales transactions, order tracking, returns, refunds and customer data collection.
• Conduct regular store audits, support annual stock counts and spot checks.
• Handle customer complaints, provide timely resolutions and gather feedback.
• Analyse sales reports, monitor brand performance, research market trends and propose actions to increase profitability.
• Maintain high‑standard window and in‑store displays in line with merchandising guidelines.
• Oversee inventory management, stock availability, order processing and stock movement within the store.
• Coordinate facility repairs and ensure equipment is maintained according to company standards.
• Plan staffing levels, create schedules and ensure consistent, high‑quality customer service.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a retail store, preferably in the sports or lifestyle sector.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills with a focus on staff motivation and retention.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to analyse sales data and translate insights into actionable plans.
• Attention to detail and commitment to loss‑prevention and inventory accuracy.
