System Administrator & Automation Specialist

About the role

The Group Information Technology Department at Arab Banking Corporation is looking for a System Administrator & Automation Specialist to join the Head Office in Bahrain. Reporting to the Automation Lead, you will manage and automate critical IT operations using Control‑M and ensure high availability across the bank’s environments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑of‑day, start‑of‑day and file‑transfer jobs via Control‑M.
• Install, configure, upgrade and maintain Control‑M components and modules (backups, OS, database, applications).
• Design and implement high‑availability solutions for Control‑M infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Korn, etc.) to automate operations.
• Document procedures, contingency plans and keep documentation up‑to‑date.
• Monitor alerts, support 24x7 service availability and coordinate patch/vulnerability management.
• Integrate Control‑M with backup software and generate custom reports (e.g., using Crystal Reports).
• Participate in operations and project teams to automate new product tasks and support disaster‑recovery tests.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years of IT operations experience with Unix/Linux and Windows system administration.
• 2+ years of programming/scripting experience (Unix shell, PowerShell, Bash, Korn).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Willingness to work rotating 8‑hour shifts.

Required skills

• Control‑M Workload Automation (installation, configuration, upgrades).
• Operating systems: Solaris, Linux, AIX, Windows.
• Scripting languages: PowerShell, Bash, Korn shell.
• Control‑M modules: backups, OS, database, applications.
• Control‑M Server, EM and Agents.
• Report building tools (Crystal Reports) and backup integration.
• High‑availability design, disaster‑recovery and business continuity support.
