Truck Reefer Unit Technician

About the role

The Truck Reefer Unit Technician ensures that refrigerated units on trucks and trailers operate reliably, maintaining cargo temperature integrity throughout transport. This role involves inspection, installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs in a workshop environment.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair a variety of reefer units (e.g., Corunclima, Thermo King, Carrier).
• Install new refrigeration units, perform testing, and commission them for service.
• Conduct quality checks and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and system checks.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration faults and replace defective components.
• Detect leaks, recharge refrigerants, and calibrate temperature control systems.
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide on‑site repairs when required.
• Assist workshop staff during idle periods and collaborate with drivers and fleet personnel.

Required profile

• Proven experience with transport refrigeration (reefer) systems.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and diesel engines.
• Ability to read technical manuals and wiring diagrams.
• Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software for reefer units.
• Valid driver’s licence (heavy‑vehicle licence is a plus).
• Good problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently under pressure.
