Able Seaman Engine-3

About the role

The Able Seaman Engine‑3 (Engine Rating) supports the Chief Engineer in keeping the vessel safe, efficient and ready for deployment. You will work onboard Svitzer’s tug fleet, performing maintenance, housekeeping and safety duties across the engine room, deck and accommodation areas.

Key responsibilities

• Report to and follow instructions from the Chief Engineer.
• Carry out all work tasks safely; seek guidance when unsure.
• Propose and participate in initiatives that raise onboard safety, including drills and the Stop‑Work/Take‑5 procedures.
• Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping in the engine room, on deck and in crew spaces as directed.
• Stop work immediately if a task is unsafe and inform the Master.
• Report proactive and near‑miss incidents to the Chief Engineer or Master.
• Comply with Svitzer’s safety management system and conduct induction training for visitors and authorized personnel.

Required profile

• III/4 – Engine Watch Rating – Unlimited Basic Safety Training (STCW A‑VI/1).
• Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (A‑VI/6).
• Valid Seafarer Medical certificate.
• Minimum 24 months sea‑time as an Oiler.
• Good understanding of English (preferred).
