Underwriter (P&C Commercial Lines)

About the role

The Underwriter will be responsible for profitably underwriting and developing Property & Casualty (P&C) Commercial Lines business for new and existing clients. This role supports Business Development Managers to maximise new business flow and improve prospect success rates while focusing on client retention, growth and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the allocated non‑motor commercial portfolio to achieve renewal retention targets in line with team goals.
• Underwrite, price, accept and issue policies and renewals within the company’s risk appetite, underwriting guidelines and authority limits.
• Prepare quotations and underwriting terms for new business and renewals, ensuring compliance with delegated authority limits and regulatory frameworks.
• Ensure all policy documents are dispatched and delivered to clients or brokers promptly, adhering to service‑level agreements.
• Provide underwriting support for all P&C Commercial Lines (Property, Engineering, Liability, Casualty, Motor, Marine) to Business Development Managers.
• Analyse existing client portfolios to identify cross‑sell and up‑sell opportunities.

Required profile

• Experience in underwriting P&C Commercial Lines.
• Strong knowledge of insurance regulations and underwriting guidelines.
• Ability to meet renewal retention and profitability targets.
