AML Transaction Investigations Senior Associate

About the role

We are seeking an AML Transaction Investigations Senior Associate to join our AML Operations team. In this position you will act as a subject‑matter expert for pre‑transaction payment screening and post‑transaction correspondent banking inquiries, helping protect the firm from money‑laundering, sanctions breaches and other financial‑crime risks.

Key responsibilities

• Review, investigate and disposition pre‑transaction payment screening alerts, sanctions matches and payment exceptions with high precision.
• Drive end‑to‑end resolution of Request‑for‑Information (RFI) requests from correspondent and clearing banks.
• Draft clear, professional responses to banking partners while adhering to Service Level Agreements and quality standards.
• Collaborate closely with Transaction Monitoring investigators to evaluate secondary alerts and document compliance actions.
• Identify emerging risk trends and escalate high‑risk cases or potential suspicious activity.

Required profile

• Degree in Business, Finance, Law or a related field.
• 3–5 years of direct experience in AML operations, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening or correspondent‑banking investigations within a bank or FinTech environment.
• Deep understanding of global AML/CTF regulations, sanctions screening frameworks and cross‑border payment flows.
• Strong analytical ability to synthesize complex transactional data, KYC profiles and customer behavior.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for drafting nuanced responses to external partners.
