Bid Manager

About the role

The Bid Manager is responsible for overseeing the estimation and tendering processes within a large‑size joinery manufacturing division. Working closely with the department head, the role ensures that bids are prepared accurately, delivered on time, and aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all estimation‑related activities, from interpreting tender documents to preparing bills of quantities.
• Review and scrutinise contract documents and commercial specifications.
• Lead and supervise the estimating team, planning workload and post‑tender handovers.
• Develop bid cost estimates, maintain the bid calendar, and ensure compliance with submission deadlines.
• Prepare material take‑offs to support the purchasing department.
• Coordinate with setting‑out and production departments for successful project execution.
• Maintain and expand the supplier database, pre‑qualifying new vendors.
• Establish, review, and enforce estimating policies and document retention procedures.

Required profile

• University degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or a related field.
• 10–15 years of experience in estimation within large joinery manufacturing companies.
• Strong knowledge of high‑quality joinery products, commercial and contractual issues.
• Proven senior‑level leadership experience in the joinery manufacturing sector.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
• Good situational awareness of the industry and familiarity with interior materials.
