Category Manager – Grocery (tMart)

About the role

We’re looking for a Category Manager to lead the growth of our own grocery store “tMart”, the region’s first cloud‑store concept offering 30‑minute delivery of groceries at hypermarket prices. The service operates across Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt, Oman and Iraq.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full category management cycle – assortment, pricing, promotions and supply for the grocery portfolio.
• Monitor economic performance of assigned categories, tracking sales, gross margin, profit and loss against commercial strategy.
• Implement commercial guidelines, category plans and pricing strategies, and provide input to operations on flows, tools and fixtures.
• Define and maintain local assortment, negotiate with suppliers, and manage purchasing terms such as cost price, discounts and rebates.
• Set pricing based on guidelines, conduct market price audits and maintain the promotion calendar.
• Identify local promotional products, forecast demand, and ensure effective execution of promotional events.

Required profile

• 5+ years of progressive experience managing multiple product categories in large retail or FMCG environments, preferably in an international setting.
• Proven ability to build teams and lead cross‑functional projects at scale.
• Detail‑oriented, structured and capable of prioritising to deliver solutions rather than bottlenecks.
• Willingness to perform any task needed for project success, including hands‑on work on the warehouse floor or handling customer calls.
• Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, able to influence senior executives and rally diverse stakeholders.
• Fluent English; Arabic is a strong advantage.
