Director of Human Resources

About the role

The Director of Human Resources will lead the overall HR strategy for a new 5‑star luxury hotel in Manama, Bahrain. Reporting to the General Manager and Executive Committee, this senior partner ensures alignment between business goals and people initiatives while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the pre‑opening HR master plan, including countdown schedules, budgeting, staffing guides and benefits strategy.
• Establish SOPs, employee handbook policies and implement HR systems such as HRIS and time‑and‑attendance tools.
• Coordinate employee housing, transportation, cafeteria and welfare facilities before staff arrival.
• Design and run global and regional recruitment campaigns, career fairs and digital sourcing to fill operational and managerial roles.
• Oversee the Public Relations Officer and Government Relations team to manage work visas, residency permits and LMRA processes.
• Ensure full compliance with Bahrain Labour Law and meet Bahrainisation quota requirements.
• Partner with department heads to deliver brand immersion, luxury service standards and pre‑opening simulation training.
• Lead onboarding, orientation, compensation design, grievance procedures and performance appraisal systems.
• Manage employee engagement, recognition programs and wellness initiatives to retain talent during the high‑stress pre‑opening phase.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
• Master’s degree or professional HR certification (e.g., CIPD, SHRM) strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years experience as Director of HR in a 5‑star luxury international hotel chain.

Required skills

• Proficiency with HR information systems (HRIS) and time‑and‑attendance platforms.
