Health & Safety Officer

About the role

The Health & Safety Officer will lead the development and implementation of occupational health and safety programs for a production environment in Bahrain. You will ensure compliance with local legislation, minimise workplace risks, and foster a culture of safety across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and update health and safety policies, procedures and manuals.
• Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments and implement control measures for chemical, physical and ergonomic risks.
• Manage the Health & Safety team, providing training and guidance on audits and emergency response.
• Liaise with government authorities to secure permits, submit reports and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Investigate incidents, determine root causes and recommend preventive actions.
• Maintain emergency response plans, conduct drills and audit local area OHS compliance.
• Prepare documentation for quality systems and communicate safety performance to senior management.

Required profile

• Bahraini nationals with at least 3 years of HSE experience, or expatriates with 6 years or more.
• Strong knowledge of Bahrain HSE laws and reporting requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent health & safety certification.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and training abilities.
• Positive attitude, integrity and a strong sense of responsibility.
