Health & Safety Officer

About the role

The Health & Safety Officer will develop, implement and maintain occupational health and safety systems for a production environment in Bahrain. The role ensures compliance with local legislation, reduces workplace risks and supports a safe culture across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain HSE policies, procedures, manuals and quality documentation.
• Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments and implement preventive measures for chemical, physical and ergonomic risks.
• Lead the internal HSE team, provide training and oversee audits of OHS compliance.
• Investigate incidents, determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain emergency response plans, hazardous waste management and ensure readiness for emergencies.
• Liaise with Bahrain authorities, ministries and regulatory bodies to secure permits and report compliance.
• Communicate HSE program status to senior management and ensure all legislative duties are met.

Required profile

• Bahraini nationals with ≥3 years HSE experience or expatriates with ≥6 years relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of Bahrain HSE laws, reporting requirements and government liaison.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
• NEBOSH Diploma or comparable health‑and‑safety certification; additional HSE certifications are a plus.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and training abilities.
• Positive attitude, integrity and a strong sense of responsibility.
