Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) – Bahrain

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to lead our AML/CFT compliance program in Bahrain. The role will ensure adherence to Central Bank of Bahrain regulations and support our virtual-asset licence application. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and regulatory authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the company’s MLRO and ensure compliance with CBB AML/CFT and crypto‑asset regulations.
• Develop, implement and maintain AML/CFT, KYC, sanctions screening and transaction monitoring frameworks.
• Review suspicious activities, prepare and submit suspicious transaction reports to the relevant authorities.
• Conduct customer risk assessments, CDD/EDD, source‑of‑funds and source‑of‑wealth reviews, and ongoing monitoring.
• Support the CBB Virtual Asset/Crypto‑Asset licence application and ongoing regulatory communications.
• Provide AML/CFT training and compliance advice to management and staff.

Required profile

• Resident of Bahrain.
• Relevant experience in AML/CFT, compliance or financial crime within banking, fintech, payments or virtual‑asset businesses.
• Strong understanding of CBB AML/CFT requirements and regulatory expectations.
• Previous experience as an MLRO, Deputy MLRO, Compliance Officer or Compliance Manager is preferred.
• Experience with virtual assets, crypto transactions, blockchain monitoring or wallet screening is highly preferred.
• Professional AML/compliance certifications such as ACAMS or ICA are preferred.
• Excellent English communication and regulatory reporting skills.
