Senior Accountant - Insurance Sector

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a leading insurance company in Bahrain. The role involves preparing financial statements, regulatory filings and management reports while ensuring compliance with IFRS, particularly IFRS 17.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare management reports, including monthly actual vs. budget and sales forecast analysis.
• Submit mandatory regulatory filings within statutory deadlines.
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with IFRS, with a focus on IFRS 17.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors and provide audit support.
• Supervise junior accountants, review their work and ensure timely task completion.
• Perform month‑end closing activities such as accruals, pre‑payments, depreciation and adjustments.
• Prepare and review journal entries for branches and agencies.
• Conduct reconciliations for banks, clients, insurance companies, workshops, suppliers and inter‑company accounts.
• Review receipts and supporting documents related to claims, payments, refunds and suppliers.
• Prepare payment vouchers, cheques and related accounting records.
• Maintain and update the fixed assets register.
• Prepare monthly employee deduction vouchers and manage periodic bank and supplier confirmations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field; professional qualification preferred.
• 3–6 years of accounting experience in the insurance industry.
• Strong background in regulatory reporting, management reporting and IFRS compliance.
• Working knowledge of IFRS 17 and insurance accounting standards.
