Setting Out Manager – Manufacturing & Joinery

About the role

The Setting Out Manager will lead the coordination of internal and external clients and the setting‑out team to ensure smooth project manufacturing, high client satisfaction, and balanced quality‑cost performance. This senior role supports divisional performance, drives efficiency improvements, and aligns daily activities with strategic plans.

Key responsibilities

• Manage assigned projects from site survey through to manufacturing delivery, overseeing material submissions, procurement, shop drawing development, prototyping and production.
• Review and control project programmes, schedules, and client expectations, ensuring timely approval of shop drawings and cutting lists.
• Coordinate with production departments, verify material specifications, and handle variations and discrepancies.
• Lead material procurement and planning to guarantee arrival before production starts, including hardware sourcing and optimisation.
• Identify and manage RFIs with clients, oversee contract interpretation, and follow up on project‑related procurement.
• Prepare project status reports and forward‑plan schedules for cutting‑list issuance.

Required profile

• Minimum ten years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in joinery setting out.
• Proven track record from site survey, shop‑drawing preparation, material take‑off, ordering, to loading‑line creation.
• Strong knowledge of joinery materials such as timber, boards, veneers and laminates.
• Ability to manage client communication and internal coordination across functional areas.
